Corena Brown

Corena Brown, 86, of Murfreesboro, passed away Feb. 12 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Graveside services were held Feb. 20 at the Pitcock Cemetery with family officiating. Interment followed.

She was born Nov. 25, 1935 in Clay County. She worked many in years at Osh Kosh. She also worked inside the home providing for her family. She enjoyed reading, animals and sports. And she also participated in the senior Olympics.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Charles and Lelia (Anderson) Head; husband, Raymon Shirley Brown; brother, James Head; sister and brother-in-law, Creola and Rich Roadruck; sister-in-law, Evelyn Brown and son-in-law, Ron Sims.

Surviving relatives include: daughter, Cindy Sims; grandson, Ronald Jeffrey Sims (Leslie); granddaughter, Natalie Nichole McMillan (Steve); great grandchildren, Ronald Cole Sims and Lelia Elizabeth McMillan; nieces, Debbie Cole and Diana Kelley; nephew, Gene Dale Goodnight; brother-in-law, Paul Brown and a host of family, friends and neighbors that will mourn her passing.

Pallbearers included friends and family.

Upton-Hay Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Maxine Webb

Maxine Webb, 93, of Celina, passed away Feb. 22 at Celina Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Services were held Feb. 25 at Upton Hay Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Groce officiating. Interment followed in the JC Webb Cemetery.

She was born April 29,1928 in Cumberland County, Ky. She worked most of her adult life as a homemaker, providing for her family, spouse, and tending to the needs of her home. She loved company, babysitting, camping, riding around and visiting the Smokey Mountains. She was a faithful member of the Rock Springs Church of Christ and enjoyed her church family.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Curb and Ora (Daniels) Watson; spouse, Willard Webb; brothers, Kenford, Johnnie and Bertie Watson; sisters, Josephine Thompson, Myrtle Colson, Halie Watson, Lucy Daniels and Cora Ranch.

Surviving relatives included: sons, Harvey (Rosanna) Webb, Ronnie (Diana) Webb; daughter, Judy (Vernon) Groce; grandchildren, Elaine Linder, Randy Groce, Robin Groce, Mickey Webb, Michael Webb and Shannon Webb; great grandchildren; one great great grandchild on the way as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors that will mourn her passing.

Pallbearers included friends and family.

David Maxey Garrett

David Maxey Garrett, 82, of  the Freehill Community of Celina, passed away Feb. 25 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Mar. 5 at Hall Funeral Home of Celina with Bro. Bobby Bartlett officiating. Interment followed in the Free Hills Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 26, 1939 in Celina. He attended school in Freehill Tennessee and then was drafted in the United States Army stationed in Fort Hamilton, New  York. He served in the Field Artillery Unit, during the Vietnam War. He loved telling stories about hunting, travel and just about anything pertaining to his life. He was admired and loved by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Madden James Garrett and Will Dean Maxey Garrett; son, Victor Toby; brothers, Robert Donald Garrett and Douglas Garrett; sister, Jane Elizabeth Taylor.

Surviving relatives included; daughters, Felicia Hirning and husband Devin, Kellie Billups and husband Reggie, Michelle Carey and husband Henry and Erica Cotton and her husband Sam; son, David Johnathan Garrett and wife Alisha and grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and dearest friend Kathleen.

Pallbearers included; Lamar Davis III, Sterling Davis, Robert Gutherie Junior, Bobby, Edward Lewis Hamilton, Cory Edward Hamilton and Danny Williams.

Hall Funeral Home of Celina was in charge of arrangements.

 

Dean Roberts

Dean Roberts, 81, Layfayette passed away Feb. 27 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center. Graveside services and Interment were held Mar. 1 at the Anderson & Son Memorial Park with Elder Barry Armour officiating.

He was born Nov. 11, 1940 in Clay County. He taught 12 years and then was principal for 18 years. He worked on the watershed project to get city water through out Clay County. He was a farmer and very active in all community projects.

He was preceded by: parents, Guy and Jewell Reeves Roberts; sister, Jo Ann Williams and brother- in- law Veachel Williams.

Surviving relatives included: wife, Deborah Armour Roberts of Lafayette; daughter, Nicole Cothron; son, Chris Roberts both of Gallatin; grandson, Cameron Roberts; granddaughter, Jadeyn and Alexa Cothron; sister, Sue and Bobby Wilburn of Mt . Vernon Community; sister-in-law, Brenda and Bobby Thomas of Layfayette; brother-in-law, Elder Barry and Tracey Armour of Hendersonville; nephew, Ronald Williams; nieces, Sharon Forrest and Gail Beaty; four great nieces.

Pallbearers were Family and Friends.
