Four people will be interviewed to replace Matt Eldridge as Clay County Director of School.
The interviews will take place during a special called meeting on Nov. 9. Clay County Board of Education Chairman Benji Bailey said he hopes the board can hire one of the candidates at the regular monthly meeting on Nov. 11.
The position came open when Eldridge announced his retirement at the September board meeting. He is remaining in the position until the end of the year.
Bailey said three of the applicants are local candidates, while one is from Overton County.
During discussions after Eldridge announced his retirement at last month’s meeting, the board agreed they would like to hire a candidate before Eldridge left office, allowing some overlap so the new director could transition into the position.
