In the fall of 2017 the City of Celina was awarded $100,000 in grant funds for commercial façade improvements in the downtown through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. Celina recognized the historic downtown as an asset many years ago and was accepted into the first round of the Tennessee Downtown program.
The $15,000 grant associated with the designation resulted in over $100,000 worth of investment in the downtown buildings. Since then, Celina has received two Community Development Block Grants for Commercial Façade improvements.
The most recent grant completed projects at 10 locations within the downtown of Celina for an investment of over $144,000.
The property owners were granted 75% in grant funds and were only responsible for 25% of the project cost.
The Tennessee Downtown program is a sub-program of Tennessee Main Street through the National Main Street Center. The Main Street program focuses on revitalizing downtowns through the Main Street Four-Point Approach strategizing Design, Economic Restructuring, Promotion, and Organization.

Downtown Celina continues to improve and grow and is grateful for programs such as this to help facilitate growth.
