Boating Accident Results In Serious Injuries For One Over Holiday Weekend

A single boating accident occurred over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, resulting in serious injuries for one.

At approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 30, East Clay Volunteer Fire Department was notified of a possible boating accident near Willow Grove Campground swimming area.

Once on scene firefighters found a 49-year-old male who had suffered serious injuries to his left leg, where he was pinned between the boat and the ground. Witnesses say he was attempting to pull the boat up onto the shore.

Firefighters were able to provide medical attention until Overton EMS arrived. Clay County Sheriff’s Department, TWRA and Willow Grove Marina were also able to assist.
