Shelby Nolan

Shelby Nolan, 82, of Livingston, passed away Jan. 21 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Jan. 26, from the Chapel of the Upton Hay Funeral Home with Kenny Westmoreland officiating. Interment followed in the Doc Hall Cemetery. Friend and family served as pallbearers.

He was born Feb. 24, 1938 in Clay County. He worked in the ink room at Flint Ink Company making ink for the newspaper. He was a jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed being outside, working on his lawn tractor, mowing and piddling in the yard.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Ben and Maggie (Phillips) Nolan; spouse, Elizabeth (Butler) Nolan; and brothers, Ben Phillip and Danny Nolan.

Surviving relatives include: sons, Jeffrey (Trina) Nolan, Harold (Loretta) Nolan and Kenneth (Jessebil) Nolan; daughters, Vivian (Thomas) Spearman and Martha (Charles) Edens; sister, Pat Poston; grandchildren, Amy Campbell, Elizabeth Cissell, Kevin Nolan, Ashley Spearman, Jennifer Nolan, Ryan Nolan, Olivia Gooden, Tarrah Conner, Ron Cochran, Katherine Nolan, Selina Edens and Kaiden Nolan; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Campbell, Kayla Cissell, Steven Cissell, Jr., Peyton Woodard, Dylan Woodard, Summer Cochran, Karter Nolan, Kenlie Nolan, Delia Gooden, Ryker Gooden, William Jones, Luna Jones, Suzanne Jones, Jackson Campbell and Sierra Contee; great-great grandchild, Kayden Reel; as well as a host of friends and neighbors.

 

Velma L. Burton

Velma L. Burton, 92, of Russell Springs, Ky., passed away Jan. 21 at Russell County Hospital. Funeral services were held Jan. 24 from the Chapel of the Upton Hay Funeral Home with Barry Bradshaw officiating. Interment followed in the Fitzgerald Cemetery. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

She was born March 15, 1928 in Celina. She worked in her family-owned business Lakeview Resorts. After retirement she spent 21 years as a foster grandparent to children and adults with special needs at Oakwood Facilities. She enjoyed reading her Bible, going to church and gardening.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Joe Baker and Mary Lou (Neely) Massingille; sisters, Mary Ruth Mays, Christine Williams, Ruby Brannon and Renita Allen; brothers, John Isaac, David Jr., Bobby Joe and Larry Massingille.

Surviving relatives include: daughter, Sandra (Norman) Bradshaw; granddaughter, Chasity (Scott) Hancock; grandsons, Barry (Karen) Bradshaw, Eric (Lori) Bradshaw; great-granddaughters, Kylee and Haylee Hancock, Madison and Hannah Bradshaw; great-grandson, Dawson Bradshaw; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

 

Janice McLerran

Janice McLerran, 73, of Celina, passed away Jan. 28 at Celina Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held Jan. 30 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Celina with Bro. Jason Dodson officiating. Interment followed in the New Hope Cemetery in Moss.

She was born Jan. 18, 1948 in Boles, Ky. She loved her family very much and was willing to helpo where she was needed.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Eford and Delcie (Smith) Arnett; brothers, Wade Arnett and James Arnett; and sister, Brenda Arnett.

Surviving relatives include: husband, James McLerran; son, Jeffery McLerran and wife Sheila of Mobile, Ala; daughters, Angela McLerran of Celina and Nisa McLerran of Beechgrove; grandchildren, Richard Worst, of Mobile AL., Jordan McLerran of Murfreesboro and Todd and Nichole Scott of Celina; three great grandchildren; sisters, Nelda McLerran and Glenda Watson; brothers, David Arnett and Stevie Arnett; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family of Mary Etta Sherrell would like to thank all the family and friends who assisted during this difficult time. In particular, the family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and aides who took such loving care of Mary Etta. We are truly grateful and blessed.
