Overton County Schools were awarded the 2020 Perkins Reserve Grant, Growing Opportunities in the Upper Cumberland with Unmanned Aircraft Systems in excess of $179,000.
This is an initiative that focuses on college and career readiness of students in rural counties. Overton County has created a regional partnership that includes Clay, Jackson, and Pickett Counties.

The equipment will allow students to engage with unmanned aircraft systems that include programming and navigating drones and train on an aircraft simulator with dual pilot controls with cockpit views.
