The City recently signed a lease to manage Donaldson Park from the Corp of Engineers. The lease is for 25 years and is good through the year 2045.
“I’m excited about the park,” Celina Mayor Tonya Spears said. “I would like to see some public events at the park in the future.” The mayor spoke about the fish fries of the past that were big events decades ago. Those types of events require the work of many individuals and volunteers.
The lease for Donaldson Park is a process that began in September of 2018. At that time, the Corps of Engineers “approached the city about maintaining the park through a lease agreement,” according to official documents.
Mayor Spears has some plans for Donaldson Park during the first year. A high priority is to clean up the park, maintain the walking trail and other facilities.
