The Clay County Board of Education met on Nov. 5 to discuss their monthly business.
Chairman Benji Bailey opened the meeting with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance was recited.
First on the agenda was the approval of the minutes from their previous meeting that took place on Oct. 15. All were for.
Next, the board approved the current agenda. All were for.
Bailey opened the floor for a motion to approve the replacement of a heating cabinet in the CCHS cafeteria.
“It’s been there since the building was built, all of that equipment now is starting to get some age on it. I’ve tried to repair and I can’t repair it,” school nutritionist Laura McLerran said.
Without much more discussion the board voted to approve the replacement heating cabinet.
The board moved into a discussion regarding insurance premiums for county school employees. Premiums are set to increase by around $40,000 from year to year and the board has decided to pay 75% of the increase.
