Mary Elizabeth Drummond
Mary Elizabeth Drummond, 81, of Tipton, Ind., passed away Aug. 21 at the Miller’s Merry Manor in Tipton, Ind.
She was born Feb. 5, 1939. She was a homemaker, enjoyed life and especially loved time she spent with her brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by parents, R.A. and Ruby Leona (Scott) Drummond.
Surviving relatives include brothers, Jerry Drummond and wife, Julia of Celina, Texas, Charles Drummond and wife, Betty Jo of Tullahoma, Bob Drummond of Portland and Bill Drummond and wife, Ellen of Elwood, Ind.; sisters, Nancy West of Scottsville, Ky., Sharon Locke and husband, Buddy of Largo, Fla. and Maggie Upton and husband, Richard of Celina.
Upton-Hay Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Bonnie Lee Shipley
Bonnie Lee Shipley, 95, of Soddy Daisy, formerly of Celina, passed away Aug. 26 at Soddy Daisy Health Care Center. Funeral services were held Aug. 29 at the Upton-Hay Funeral Home with Caleb Burnette officiating. Interment followed in the Fellowship Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Damon Yates, Drew Daniels, Wayne Nelson, Ricky Melton, Paul Brown and Christian Brown.
She was employed for Delco Remy in Anderson, Ind. for 22 years and then by Crotty in Celina for 17 more. Some of her hobbies included traveling, quilting and word puzzles. She was a longtime member of the Celina Church of Christ and more recently attended Clear Creek Church of Christ in Hixson.
She was preceded in death by parents, Charlie Melton and Mae (Thrasher) Melton; husband, Otha C. (Babe) Shipley; sisters, Ruby Hurley, Christine Brown, Elizabeth Richardson and Regina Melton; and brother, Billy Melton.
Surviving relatives include daughter, Janet Yates and husband, David of Soddy Daisy; brother, James D. Melton and wife, Carol of Livingston; sisters, Tommie Adams and husband, Art of Indianapolis, Ind., Helen Ledbetter and husband, Raymond of Indianapolis, Ind. and Sue Cravens and husband, Benny of Anderson, Ind.; grandchildren, Damon Yates of Thompson Station and Jayna and husband, Drew Daniels of Red Bank; great-grandson, Holden Daniels; and a host of neighbors and friends.
Annabelle Smith, 87, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of Clay County, passed away Aug. 23 at her residence. Funeral services were held Aug. 30 at the Upton-Hay Funeral Home with Kenny Westmoreland officiating. Interment followed in the Union Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Billy Brooks, Jack Smith, Steve Bailey, Doug Browning, Neal Smith and Jeff George.
She was born July 20, 1933 in Clay County. She enjoyed the company of any four-legged companion, going to thrift stores, shopping, going out to eat, gardening, flowers and traveling to the place of her birth.
She was preceded in death by parents, Willie Hix and Emma Lee (Morris) Cunningham; husband, Coell Smith; brother, Junior Cunningham; sisters, Clara Vandiver, Earl Shock, Pearl Scott, Gladys Smith, Wilma Boles, Joyce Choate and Judy Head; and an infant sister, Hope Cunningham.
Surviving relatives include daughters, Shelia Lyle of Edinburgh and Gloria Dian Rice of Fla.; grandchildren, Shana (Billy) Brooks and Justin (Theresa) Rice; and great grandchildren, Shaylee, Baylee and Macaylee Brooks.
