Mitchell Douglas “Doug” York

Mitchell Douglas “Doug” York, 75, of Nashville, passed away July 22 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. Graveside services were held July 25 at Pitcock Cemetery with Gary Wilder officiating. Family served as pallbearers.

He was born Oct. 26, 1944 in Macon County.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Lillian (West) and James Mitchell York; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Elaine and Vickie Lynn York.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Colleen Dixon York of Nashville; daughter, Angela York of Nashville; son, Carl York and wife, Tabitha of Ashland City; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Pat York Crossland of Lynn Haven, Fla., Ella Jean Page of Tompkinsville, Ky., Teresa White and husband, Steve of Loudon, Tina Manning and husband, Mike of Bowling Green, Ky.; half-sisters, Linda Crowe and husband, Cancil, Shelia Coe and husband, Tony and Carol Sue Rhoton and husband, Newman; and half-brother, James Mitchell “Roho” York, all of Tompkinsville, Ky.

Rickie Dale Smith

Mr. Rickie Dale Smith, age 63 of Tompkinsville, departed from this life on Friday, July 24, 2020 in Smiths Grove, Kentucky. Rickie was born on June 29, 1957, the son of the late Kenneth and Wilma Dean (Reecer) Smith. Rickie was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an over the road truck driver for 47 years.

Rickie is survived by one brother, Kenny Dwight Smith and his wife, Jo Ann of Princeton, Kentucky; two sisters, Sheila Smith and husband Mickle, Angelia Ritter and husband, Jeff, both of Tompkinsville; four children, Josh Smith and fiancée, Amber White, Ashley Grider and her husband, Nick, Amy Craighead and her husband, AJ, all of Tompkinsville and Colee Smith and husband, Spencer of Gamaliel; eight grandchildren; four nieces; and his aunts and uncles also survive.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his maternal grandparents, H.W. and Velma Reecer; and paternal grandparents, Ernest and Dorothy Smith.

Funeral services were conducted on July 26, 2020 from the Chapel of Anderson-Bartley Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial in the Moss Cemetery. Neal Mathis officiated the service.

Pallbearers were Steven Bailey, Terry Cross, Steve Bailey, Champ Smith, Michael Smith, Joey Proffitt, Terry Proffitt, Josh Sells and Scotty Mitchell.

In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Honor of Rickie Smith to the Moss Cemetery and may be made at the funeral.

Anderson-Bartley Funeral Home was honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Smith.


Donna Snow Burnette

Donna Snow Burnette, 69, of Celina, passed away July 22 at her residence. Graveside services were held July 24 at the Fitzgerald Cemetery with Caleb Burnette officiating. Pallbearers were Caleb Burnette, Ryan Lacy, Stephen Lacy, Matt Roberts, Donald Collins and Wallace Walker.

She was born Sept. 1, 1950 in Livingston. She loved nature walks, doing crafts, baking, teaching Bible classes and especially loved everything about the Smokey Mountains. She worked in elementary education. She was a faithful member of the Celina Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Clyde M. King and Daisy Ruth (Vanatta) King.

Surviving relatives include: husband, Gerald Burnette; brother, Joe Wayne King and wife, Kay; sister, Sandra Eads, all from Celina; sons, Robert Stephen Lacy of Knoxville, Phillip Ryan Lacy and wife, Amanda and Caleb Burnette and wife, Ashley, all of Celina; daughter, Tara Roberts and husband, Matt of Celina; stepdaughter, Gretchen Chase and husband, Jay of New Mexico; grandchildren, Kaylee and Martina Riddle, Kendel Woods, Miles Lacy, Morgan and Connor Chase, Olivia, Savanna, Gabe, Benjamin and Maleia Mae Roberts, Eli, Isaiah and Ezekiel Burnette; and her 17-year-old poodle, Abby.

Bobby Wayne Poindexter

Bobby Wayne Poindexter, 59, of Celina, passed away July 22 at his residence. Funeral services were held July 24 in the chapel of the Upton-Hay Funeral Home with Kenny Westmoreland officiating. Interment followed in the Tinsley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Spencer Poindexter, Bobby Seth Poindexter, Ashton Westmoreland, Dustin Collins, Terry Poindexter and Will Perdue.

He was a butcher the majority of his life and later in life worked in the distribution industry. He had various hobbies such as being in the outdoors, kayaking, yard work and junking.

He was preceded in death by: father, Reid Poindexter; and sisters, Ann Smith, Peggy Poindexter and infant, Wilma Carol Poindexter.

Surviving relatives include: mother, Alice Poindexter; brother, Billy Poindexter; nieces, Carrie Westmoreland, Monica Smith, Felicia Poindexter and Jodi Sue Poindexter; nephews, Spencer Poindexter and Bobby Seth Poindexter; five great-nephews; three great nieces; and a host of friends and neighbors.


Richard Alan Henderson

Richard Alan Henderson, 73, of Celina, passed away July 22 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. There will be a Celebration of Life scheduled by his family at a later date.

He was born April 29, 1947 in Osh Kosh, Wis. He was a veteran of the Army during the Vietnam War. He spent his career in public service working in Fire/EMS serving the citizens of the community.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Edwin and Constance (Johnson) Henderson; and son, Alan Henderson.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Deborah Devries; daughters, Lindsey Henderson-Cavanagh and husband, Dan of Belton, S.C., Jennifer Samples and husband, Dustin of Cleveland and Melissa Ellison Fredericks, M.D.; brothers, Scott Henderson and wife, Elaine of Plano, Texas and David Henderson and wife, Jayne of Altamont Springs, Fla.; sister, Monica Stoner of Flagstaff, Ariz.; grandchildren, Tyler, Serena, Rylan, Blakely and Hollyn; and many neighbors and friends.

Duel Lindell Nevins

Duel Lindell Nevins, 76, of Celina, passed away July 23 in Indiana. There was a private graveside services at Tinsley Cemetery on Aug. 1.

He was born in Tipton, Ind.. He began his career with General Motors, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed fishing, football and going to church and was always extremely proud of his vegetable garden.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Luke D. and Willie Sue Nevins; and wife, Janis.

Surviving relatives include: sons, Tim Nevins and Steve and wife, Anita Nevins; brother, Leon and wife, Earlene Nevins; four grandchildren; and many neighbors and friends.

Upton-Hay Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Peter John Maynard

Peter John Maynard, 73, of Celina, passed away July 23 in Burkesville. The family have chosen cremation at his request and no services are planned.

He was born in East Lyme, Conn. He made a living for his family by driving a truck, was in the Army and was a hard working man.

He was preceded in death by: mother, Gladys Warren.

He is survived by his family.

Samuel Mark Napier

Samuel Mark Napier, 69, of Celina, passed away July 25 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Graveside services were held July 28 from the Fitzgerald Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 30, 1950 in Celina. Mark worked as a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by: Bayless, Jr and Sarah (Palmore) Napier.

Surviving relatives include: son, Skylar Neal Napier and wife, Elizabeth Cribbs; and sister, Anna Ruth Locke.
