Betty Ashlock

Betty Ashlock, 81, of Celina passed away June 20 at the Celina Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral services were held June 23 at the Upton-Hay Funeral Home with Kenny Westmoreland officiating. Interment followed in the Grover C. Rich Cemetery. Active pallbearers were: Ronald Strong, Donald Strong, Louie Key, Ricky Strong, Clay Rich and Chris Rich. Terry Pennington was named honorary pallbearer.

She was born June 17, 1938 in Pea Ridge. She worked in the manufacturing industry at Osh Kosh and Crotty. She also served as a bus driver for UCARTS and was a faithful member of the Beech Bethany Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by parents, Grover and Celia (Arms) Rich-Watson; her first husband, Hugh Key; second husband, Durell Ashlock; four brothers; and three sisters.

Surviving relatives include; son, Mark Ashlock and wife, Lori of Celina; daughters, Judy Lancaster and husband, Jerry of Allons and Donna Choate and husband, Tony of Jamestown; grandchildren, Haley Choate, Chelsea King, Rachael Smith, Jake Ashlock, Marlee Ashlock and Bella Ashlock; brother, James “Ted” Rich and wife, Linda of Celina; sisters, Martha Strong, Daisy Key and husband, Raymond and Jewell Pennington, all of Celina; several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Shelly Lavonna Carender

Shelly Lavonna Carender, 58, of Celina, passed away on June 13 at her residence. The family has chosen cremation. There was no visitation or services planned. Hall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born in Overton County on April 7, 1961.

She was preceded in death by father, Bentley Hammock.

She is survived by husband, Joe Carender; son, Nathaniel Shane Blakley; daughter, Michelle Faye Blakley; mother, Geraldine Carr; sisters, Junitta Feaster, Teresa Spivey and Vickie Carr; brother, Clay T. Carr and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
