Lovie Mae Walker Williams

Mrs. Lovie Mae Walker Williams, age 94 of Cookeville, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019. Her family received friends Friday, February 1st from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. A private graveside service and interment was held Saturday, February 2nd at Crest Lawn Cemetery with Bob Farris officiating.
She was born March 4, 1924 in Clay County, TN to the late Clure V. and Mollie Belle Reecer Walker.
Lovie’s life was devoted to family. She was a homemaker, loving sister and spent many years caring for her mother and father. She loved her family and cherished every moment with her daughter and granddaughter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, George Walker, Hazel Walker (infant), Sylvia Spidel, Belva Brown, Marie Scott, Lewis Walker and Jewel Harper.
She is survived by daughter, Pamela Clarkson; granddaughter, Kelly Clarkson, both of Cookeville; brothers, Robert Walker and wife Edith of Muncie, IN and Donald Walker and wife Donna Gaye of Arcadia, IN; and by special caregivers, Judy Hoskins and Cathy Brown.

Hettie Lou Eads

Hettie Lou Eads, 79 of Celina, passed away on Jan. 27 at Cumberland River Hospital. Funeral Services were held on Jan. 31 at the Upton-Hay Funeral Home with David Threet officiating. Interment followed in the Pitcock Cemetery. Andy Reecer, Joey Sims, Nathan Hammons, Allen Melton, T.J. Birdwell and Weston Birdwell served as active pallbearers. Adam Sims was named an honorary pallbearer.

She was born on Nov. 16, 1939 in Sumner County. She is remembered as a kind, hard-working Christian woman who loved her family and all those she came in contact with. She spent several years as an Extension Assistant, but most people came to know and love her for her 34 years of service as an Avon Representative. She was a faithful member of the Arcot Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by parents, Estis and Vealer (Crawford) Sims; and nephew, Jody Reecer.

Surviving relatives include husband, John Eads of Celina; son, Kenny Birdwell and wife, Tammy of the Oak Grove Community of Clay County; step-son, Rob Eads and wife, Lori of Cookeville; daughter, Vonda McLerran of Celina; brother, Joe Sims and wife, Judy of the Oak Grove Community of Clay County; sisters, Betty Melton and husband, George of the Oak Grove Community of Clay County, Jean Garmon and husband, Joe of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., Fay Hammons and husband, Buddy of Columbia, Tenn. and Kathy Reecer and husband, Truman of Bloomington Springs; grandchildren, T.J. Birdwell, Mary Beth (Birdwell) Shirley and Zoie Birdwell; step-granddaughters, Heather Phillips and Megan Lee; great-grandchildren, Weston, Lila and Reid Birdwell and Harper Shirley; step-great-grandchildren, Dakota and Dawson Phillips and Hayden, Weston and Decie Lee; nieces and nephews, Tammy Melton, Allen Melton, Nathan Hammons, Andy Reecer, Joey Sims and Adam Sims; and a host of friends.
