Chamber of Commerce Director Kevin Donaldson updated the Clay County Commissioners about tourism, economic data and other subjects during their January meeting.
Donaldson spoke to commissioners about the latest local sales tax data complied by the Upper Cumberland Development District. “We have been on a pretty good run,” he said. “Quarterly and annually we have been on a pretty big upswing.” He explained to commissioners that there has been a 5.3 percent increase in local sales tax revenue from the previous reporting period. “Sales tax collections are an indicator of activity related to small businesses in the area.”
