The Clay County Park Board historically has been an independent body with minimal influence from the Clay County Commission. Two more Commissioners were added to the Park Board and some Park Board members feel that the board is slowly losing their independence.
On Oct. 1, the Clay Commission unanimously appointed Bryan Coons and Anthony Boles as Park Board members until November of 2019. This swells the number of County Commissioners that now sit in five out of the 11 Park Board seats.
