Brimage “Bud” Lee Smith

Brimage “Bud” Lee Smith, 82 of Fayetteville, passed away on Oct. 2. Funeral service were held on Oct. 5 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. David Sain officiating. A second service was held on Oct. 6 at Union Hill Church of Christ in Moss with Bro. Shane Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Union Hill Cemetery.

He was born on Sept. 17, 1936 in Clay County. He graduated from Hermitage Springs High School in 1955 and then Tennessee Technological University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He went on the earn his MBA degree from Alabama A&M University in 1976. After graduating from Tennessee Tech he worked as an engineer for the United States Air Force. He was a member of the West Fayetteville Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lemuel and Leam Ada Turner Smith; grandson, Ross Hood; and siblings, Willadean Allen, Jewell Carlisle, Douglas Smith and Patricia Smith.

Surviving relatives include his wife of 61 years, Clarice Jean Copass Smith; children, Beverly (David) Hood of Hampton Cove, Ala., Bruce (Suzy) Smith of Taft, Tenn., Gregory L Smith of Decatur, Ala. and Kimberly (Dennis) Herndon of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Valerie (Rob) Leonard, Jessica (Elliot) Hamm, Zak Smith, Crissy Smith, Sean Alex Smith, Taylor Herndon, and Kyle Herndon; great-grandchildren, Jake Leonard, Addie Claire Leonard, Katie Leonard, and Lily Hamm; siblings, Dillard (Joyce) Smith of Cleveland, G.A., Belva Cowan Davis of Red Boiling Springs and Jimmy Smith of Moss; and many nieces and nephews.

Higgins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Phyllis Laurel Reecer

Phyllis Laurel Reecer, 67 of Celina, passed away on Sept. 30 at the Celina Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Services were held on Oct. 3 at the Upton-Hay Funeral Home with Jason Dodson officiating. Interment followed in the Moore Cemetery. Nick Melton, Donald Boone, Matthew Boone, Keith Rich, Charles Smith and Junior Key served as active pallbearers.

She was born on March 13, 1952 in Celina. She was a gentle soul who graced her family with the innocence and love of a child. She was adored by all who knew her. She loved carrying her pocketbook and gathering pennies. Her smile was contagious and her love pure.

She was preceded in death by her father, father, Carl Allen Reecer.

Surviving relatives include her mother, Nina Mae (McLerran) Reecer of Celina; sister, Tammie Melton of Moss; niece, Erica Adams and husband Matt of Moss; nephew, Nick Melton and wife Muriel of Moss; great-nieces and nephews, Hayden, Reece and Easton Adams, Camron Tucker, Warner, Nixon, McKenna and Mia Melton; double-first cousin, Marjorie Boone and husband Donald; special caretaker, Diane Willis; and many other family and friends. The family offers a special thanks to Oleta Key, Carolyn Sue Jolin and Martha Lou Copass.

 

Shelia Ray Cummins

Shelia Ray Cummins, 68 of Celina, passed away on Sept. 30 at the Celina Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were held on Oct. 3 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Celina with Bro. Bobby Bartlett officiating. Interment followed in the Hamilton Addition of Fitzgerald Cemetery in Celina. Pallbearers included: Terry Scott, David Emberton, Lynn Estes, Steve Estes, Kenny Estes and Richard Estes.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1949 in Clay County.

She was preceded in death by husband, Buddy L. Cummins; mother, Clara Mae Kerr Maxwell; father, James W. Maxwell (Sie); mother-in-law, Isabelle Cummins; sisters, Anna Floyd Atchley, Minnie Ruth Sisco, Vickie Lane Maxwell; and brothers, James Wallace Maxwell and Charles William Maxwell.

Surviving relatives include sisters, Doris Wood of Indianapolis, Ind., Bonnie Estes of
Mt. Juliet, Gail Cummins and husband Jerry of Celina; sister-in-laws: Renee Copeland of Celina, Sandra Wade of Harrodsburg, Ky.; brother-in-laws, Dallas Cummins of Fla., Ronnie Cummins of Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.

 

Ramona Adams Worrix

Ramona Adams Worrix, 49 of Sparta, passed away on Sept. 23 at her residence. Funeral services were held on Sept. 26 from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Celina with Bro. Ken Miller officiating. Interment followed in the Watson Cemetery located in the Pea Ridge Community.

She was born on Nov. 9, 1968. She was a secretary with the State of Tennessee and was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her Hoover Paul and Georgia Mae (Watson) Adams; and sister, Sandy English.

Surviving relatives include husband, Jeff Worrix; daughter, Sierra Jackman and husband Steven; sons, Steven Groce and wife Darby, Justin Worrix and wife Sara, Preston Worrix; sister, Glenda Raines; brother: Timothy Adams; and 2 grandchildren.

 

Larry “Pee Wee” Raymond Cherry

Larry “Pee Wee” Raymond Cherry, 55 of Gainesboro, passed away on Sept. 23 at his residence. Funeral services were held on Sept. 29 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Celina with Dr. Kenneth Beaty officiating. Interment followed in the Jonestown Cemetery in Moss.

He was born in Gallatin. He was a car detailer.

He was preceded in death by parents, Rentford M. and Audrey (Reecer) Cherry; and twin brother, Jerry Cherry.

Surviving relatives include his brothers, Steve Cherry, Stanley Cherry, Barry Cherry, Danny Cherry and Connie Mack Cherry; sisters, Patricia Cherry Bybee, Janet

Cherry Shrum and Sheila Cherry Lea and a host of nieces and nephews.
