Aldermen Buddy Thompson and Tonya Spears were alarmed when a representative unexpectedly increased a quote for computer software and upgrades by over $45,000.
Last month the aldermen unanimously voted to approve upgrades to the city’s computer software, computers and the water department’s handheld readers. The aldermen approved the purchase from a company called Local Government. This was supposed to be a routine purchase, until a representative from Local Government announced a raise in the price of the computer software and systems by over $45,000.
