Genevieve Pharris, 77 of Moss, passed away on April 18 at Macon County General Hospital. Funeral services were held on April 21 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Celina with Bro. Tim White officiating. Interment followed in the Union Hill Cemetery.
She was born on May 2, 1940 in the Union Hill Community of Clay County. She loved her flower garden, ginseng digging and most anything outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vancil D. and Mae (York) Smith; sons, Curtis Craighead and Keith Pharris; sisters, Kat Wilkerson and Linda Anderson; brothers, Donnie Smith and Coell Smith; son in law, Ricky Hatcher; two nephews; one niece; two great nephews; and one great niece.
Surviving relatives include her lifelong special friend, Kenneth Arms; daughter, Lizabeth Hatcher; grandsons, Daniel Hatcher and Josh Pharris; granddaughters, Quiana (Sonny) Silk and Lori Beth (Rocky) Hooten; great granddaughters, Caylin Silk, Ariana “Ari” Hooten and Kinley Pharris; great grandsons, Gavin Silk, Gunner Silk and Jasper Pharris; brothers, Jack (Laurabelle) Smith and Neal (Debbie) Smith; sisters, Brenda (Doug) Browning and Sherry (Jeff) George; brother in law, Lincoln Wilkerson; sister in law, Anna Belle Smith; aunt, Estellene Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
James Melton Smith
James Melton Smith, 70 of Cookeville, passed away on April 20 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held on April 22 at the Upton-Hay Funeral Home with Eddie White officiating. Interment followed at the Fitzgerald Cemetery.
He was born on May 4, 1947 in Clay County. He was a hard working man who worked at Daco Convenience Center as a sanitation worker for most of his adult career. He was a member of the Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mable Christine (Roach) Smith; brothers, Thomas and Billy Smith; and son, Mark Smith.
Surviving relatives include his Juliene Smith of Cookeville; son, Michael Garrity and wife Elisa of Rickman; daughters, Teresa Cunningham of Cookeville and Wanda Smith of Livingston; step-son, Dewayne Smith and wife Renee of Plainfield, Ind.; step-daughter, Amy Crawford and husband Jeremy of Indianapolis, Ind.; brothers, Wayne Smith and wife Reba of Moss, Eddie Smith and wife Darlene, Phillip Smith and wife Diane, Bobby Smith and wife Judy all of Celina; grandchildren, Tiffany Garrity, Jacob Cunningham, Seth Garrity, Tytus Garrity, Myranda, Breanna and Ayva Smith; great grandchildren, Taryn Johnson and Lillien Rose Cunningham; special friend, Teresa Hackett; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

Ruthie Fean Boles
Ruthie Fean Boles, 87 of Celina, passed away on April 19 at Cumberland River Hospital. Funeral services were held on April 21 at Upton-Hay Funeral Home with Donald Bryant officiating. Interment followed in the Turkeytown Cemetery.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1930 in Celina. She was a hard working woman who was very committed to her family. She worked at Osh Kosh and Crotty for most of her adult career. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Mackie (Anderson) Walker; husband, Lester Ross Boles, son, Danny “Crusher” Boles; sisters, Letha Reecer, Ruby McLerran and Nellie Schassburger; and brothers, Wade Jack Walker, Willie Walker and Charlie Walker.
Surviving relatives include her son, Lester Boles and wife, Rhonda of Cookeville; daughter, Glenda Ritter of Celina; brother, Thomas Walker of Celina; grandchildren, Chassity Ritter, Brian Ritter and wife, Jennifer, Christy Davidson and husband, Neal and Stacy Boles; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
