Questionable roadblocks should be a thing of the past. An ordinance was recently passed that will still allow some legitimate organizations to have roadblocks, but should stop some of the questionable ones.
Driving through downtown Celina during the spring and summer weekends last year, you could almost guarantee getting stopped by a roadblock. People would stand with buckets and collect money, sometimes the groups were legitimate, but sometimes the roadblock money went to people who you might not have known who they were. Some groups and people collecting money didn’t even clearly identify themselves or their groups. Police had no real authority to stop the questionable roadblocks, until now.
