Steven Edward Richards

Machine Operator

Steven Edward Richards, 39 of Moss, passed away on Jan. 3 at his home in Moss. Funeral services were held Jan. 8, at the Hall Funeral Home in Celina with Rev. Eric Copass officiating.  Interment followed in the Macedonia Cemetery in Moss.

He was born  Feb. 15, 1978, in Chicago, Ill. He was employed as a machine operator in a sawmill.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Richards.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Shannon Richards; daughters, Savannah R. and Shelby N. Richards; sons, Steven T. and Seth T. Richards, all of Moss; sisters, Debbie and husband Jeff Garretson of Fla., Amy Richards, and Kim and husband Robert Turner, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; brothers, Scott Richards, of Ind., Jason and fiancée’ Amanda Richards, of Indianapolis, Ind., Kevin Richards, of Albuquerque, N.M. and Cameron  and Wife Kristen Richards, of Colo.; parents, Ed and Patricia Richards, of Indianapolis, Ind.; and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers included: Mike Atkins, Nick Melton, Christ Smith, Jason Richards, Jeff Rhoton and Greg Copass. Honorary pallbearers included: his sons, Steven T. Richards and Seth T. Richards.

William Harlin Smith

William Harlon Smith, 75 of Moss passed away on Jan. 3 at the Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. Funeral Services were held Jan. 6 at the Upton- Hay Funeral Home with Elijah Smith officiating. Interment following in the Macedonia Cemetery.

He was born on April 16, 1942 in Monroe County, Ky. He was a husband, dad, Pa, brother, friend and worked as a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Lee and Ersie Jewell (Strong) Smith; sister, Reva Odle; and brother, Louis Lee Smith.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Betty Sue Smith; sons, Calvin Smith and wife Sonya and Anthony Smith; daughter, Vicky Goolsby and husband Dwight; brother, Jimmy Smith and wife Faye all of Moss; sister, Shirley Gammon and husband, Ray of Lafayette; grandchildren, Cierra Clements and husband Russ, Keshia Smith, Harlan Smith, Colton Smith, Amber Copas and Harley Copas; great-grandchildren, Ella Clements and Braxton Smith; brother-in law, Buddy Odle; and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers included: Buddy Odle, Jimmy Smith, Beaver Smith, Eddie Smith, Spencer Proffitt and Kent Smith. Honorary pallbearers included: Russ Clements, Austin Goad, Larry Lee Smith, Jim Strong, Dave Scott and Greg Meadows.

 

Joe Dan Fox

Mayor of Celina

Joe Dan Fox, 73 of Celina, passed away on Jan. 7 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Graveside services were held on Jan. 10 at the Green Cemetery with Eric Copas officiating. Upton-Hay Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born in Celina on Nov. 25, 1944. He was an accountant, a school teacher, a farmer and served as City of Celina Mayor for 12 years. His most treasured roles were that of husband, dad, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a member of the Celina Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Walker (E.W.) and Anna Lee (Williamson) Fox; and his daughter, Amanda Jane Fox.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Judy G. Fox of Celina; son, Dan Fox and wife Tiffany of Allons; daughters, Kim Upton and husband Todd of Celina and Becca Barlow of Cookeville; grandchildren, Corey Barlow and wife Lindsay, Trevor Barlow, Bryson Barlow, Ben Upton, Emmy Jane Upton and Walker Fox; great-grandchildren, Cooper Barlow and Avery Barlow; special friend, W.C. White; and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers included: Todd Upton, Ben Upton, Dan Fox, William Marcum, Devrim Brown and Robert Westmoreland.
